Privacy policy

In short: your snippets stay on your computer and we never see them.

The app

  • Snippets, settings and backups are stored locally on your computer (or in a folder you choose, such as OneDrive). We have no access to them.
  • The app does not record what you type or send it anywhere, except text you choose to spell-check (see below). Keystrokes are only examined on your computer to recognise abbreviations.
  • Once a day the app checks GitHub for a new version. GitHub sees your IP address, as with any website you open. You can turn this check off in the settings.
  • When you check text for mistakes, the app sends that text to the checking service you chose: LanguageTool (the default), or Claude, Gemini or ChatGPT if you added your own key. The service handles it under its own privacy policy. The app asks for your consent before the first check.
  • The app checks your license key on your computer. On activation, and then once a day when online, it sends snippytext.com the key, the computer's name and a one-way hash of the Windows ID (the ID itself is never sent). This keeps a key to 2 computers and lets you switch computers. We store the computer names, country, and the dates of activation and the last check.

Purchases

Payments are processed by our reseller, which receives your payment details, email and country under its own privacy policy. We receive only your name, email, country and order details, to issue your license and support you.

The website

This website uses no cookies and no analytics. Your browser only remembers the language and theme you picked.

If you write to us with the form on the Contact us page, your email, message and attached file reach [email protected] as an email so we can reply. To filter out spam, the form may check that you are human with Cloudflare Turnstile.

A review from the Write a review page is stored with the key you used to confirm your purchase and the email in that key. The site shows only the rating, text, the name you entered and the month. To delete your review, write to us.
